Batman Returns

title

Batman Returns is in my view THE best Batman game ever released for the SNES. Hell, it even makes a strong case for best Batman game ever. The graphics are so smooth and the setting is so gothic that you just get sucked right into it. Even though the game follows the events of the movie pretty closely (I usually don't like that), I really enjoyed this game. I had the cartridge years ago but sold it, I could kick myself now as I consider the game to be a classic. Anyways, on to the details:

Graphics: 10/10

Like I said earlier, the graphics are so smooth and rich, and the setting is so gothic that you have to be impressed. Batman looks so badass, and the clowns, well what can I say? They're clowns, therefore scary by default. But everything from Batman, to the enemies, to the settings capture the essence of the movie perfectly.

Play Control / Gameplay: 9/10

The controls are quite fluid and respond well. But there are sections where you'll have a bit of trouble navigating using your accessories.

Sound: 8/10

The sound is for the most part good; it's suspenseful, moody and dark. But at times it got kind of light, which given the games setting, isn't appropriate. The sound effects are good, with the exception of Catwoman. Every time you die at her hands, she lets out this crazy chipmunk laugh.

Overall, I'd say this game is great. In fact I'd go so far as to say your collection is not complete without it. A strong 95 all the way.

Overall Score: 95
